2024 "A Taste 4 SPORTS"
S4EA celebrated our 17th Annual "A Taste 4 SPORTS" on June 26th from 6-9pm at the Balboa Park Club. S4EA honored San Diego Padres Pitching Legend Randy Jones as our 2024 'SPORTS Man of the Year'. Over 200 guests tasted food from 13 restaurants, listened to the music by the ‘Beatle Trax’ band & bid on fabulous silent auction items. Thank you to the 26 sponsors and over 75 auction donors who helped make “A Taste 4 SPORTS” a financial success with over $50,000 raised for S4EA. Thank you to everyone who participated.

In honoring Randy Jones, S4EA showed a video of highlights of Randy Jones as a San Diego Padres Hall of Fame player and interactions of Randy Jones with our S4EA athletes. Ernie Martinez made the introductions of Randy Jones. Randy then spoke and S4EA presented Randy with an award as the S4EA 2024 'SPORTS Man of the Year'. Athletes and guests enjoyed talking with Randy, as well as getting pictures and autographs with Randy.

2024 Guacamole Bowl
​
SPORTS for Exceptional Athletes is celebrating the 21st annual Law Enforcement Challenge "Guacamole Bowl" fundraiser on Saturday, February 10, 2024 from 10:00am until 2:00pm at the Balboa Park Club (2144 Pan American Road West, San Diego 92101). The "Guacamole Bowl" is a premier competition designed to determine, "Who makes the best Guacamole?"

Proceeds from the 21st Annual Guacamole Bowl will benefit SPORTS for Exceptional Athletes.
​
Retired San Diego Police Officer Matt Weathersby came up with this unique fundraising idea as a way of supporting local charities. In recent years the charity has been SPORTS for Exceptional Athletes. Over the twenty years, the Guacamole Bowl has raised over $200,000 to support local programs for athletes with developmental disabilities.
According to Weathersby, over 2,000 pounds of fresh avocados donated this year by Henry Avocado Corporation are used by the various teams along with lots of onions, tomatoes, cilantro and jalapenos, provided by the Daly Family to the competing teams. Matt added, "If you like good guacamole, and lots of it, then Balboa Park is the place to be".
Tickets

The Guacamole Bowl is open to members who are invited to come out & sample all the great guacamole. An $8 admission pays membership fee and gets you a bag of Mission Tortilla chips & all the guacamole you can eat. You will also have the opportunity to vote for your favorite recipes and select the finalists in each division.
Prize Categories
​
The top 3 teams in each division, decided by popular vote, will remake their recipe for the official judges for the final rounds. Awards will be presented winners in each division.
​
The coveted Guacamole Bowl Cup perpetual trophy will be presented to the team judged to make the best guacamole.

Pancake Breakfast
S4EA holds a Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser twice a year. The breakfast includes pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, milk, juice and coffee. A raffle is held with great raffle prizes.

Outdoor Family
Bunco
S4EA holds a Bunco Fundraiser 3-4 times a year. Bunco includes lunch and/or hors d'oeuvres. Prizes are given for most wins, most losses, and most Buncos. We play two rounds of tournament play. Bunco is a dice game of chance. A raffle is held with great raffle prizes.
